Postdoctoral position in inflammation-mediated tumor immunology- Dr. David Brooks Laboratory at Princess Margaret Cancer Center - Princess Margaret Cancer Center

Province: Toronto, Ontario
Position: Postdoctoral position in inflammation-mediated tumor immunology- Dr. David Brooks Laboratory at Princess Margaret Cancer Center
Deadline: December 31, 2022

Job Description / Duties

A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. David Brooks in the Tumor Immunotherapy Program, Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Our lab has a long-standing interest to understand how interferons positively and negatively regulate the immune system to alter tumor control and response to immunotherapy (Snell et al., Trends Immunology 2017 DOI: 10.1016/j.it.2017.05.005; Boukhaled et al., Ann Review Pathology 2022 DOI: 10.1146/annurev-pathol-031920-093932).

The postdoctoral fellow will advance our understanding of interferon-mediated regulation of the human immune system. This project will further explore and extend our recent discovery that interferon responsive states predict response to immunotherapy (Boukhaled et al., Nature Immunology 2022 https://rdcu.be/cRDlS) and help guide the use of these signatures into the clinic for therapeutic decisions. The project will implement cutting-edge technologies, including CyTOF and multi-omic single-cell RNA and epigenetic sequencing to continue uncovering the inflammatory mechanisms regulating anti-tumor immunity, and leverage them to better predict subsequent responses to immunotherapy.

Our group offers a highly collaborative environment to learn and grow into successful independent scientists and leaders. The position provides competitive salary in a well-funded environment.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Candidates have:
• A background in cellular and/or molecular immunology with specific experience in tumor immunology.
• Experience performing CyTOF or high-dimensional flow cytometry analysis using bioinformatic tools (e.g. UMAP, Phenograph, correlation analysis, statistical modeling, Seurat)
• Ph.D. applicant near graduating or having recently earned Ph.D.
• High motivation and a strong record of scientific accomplishments, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and scientific presentations.

Salary: Highly competitive salary
