Postdoctoral fellow position on the circadian control of parasitic infections - Laboratory of Molecular Chronobiology Douglas Research Centre, McGill University, Montreal

Province: Montreal, Quebec
Position: Postdoctoral fellow position on the circadian control of parasitic infections
Deadline: March 13, 2020
Posted: February 2, 2020

Job Description / Duties

A postdoctoral fellow position is available. Research projects in the laboratory aim at defining the molecular mechanisms underlying circadian clocks and their links with physiology. This research is crucial to better understand circadian rhythms, and the numerous health issues that can arise following their dysregulation (such as in shift workers): sleep and mood disorders, cancer, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular problems... The selected candidate will join our ongoing efforts to study the circadian regulation of parasitic infections and immune responses in mice (see e.g. Kiessling et al., Sci. Rep., 2017; Carvalho Cabral et al., Front. Cell. Infect. Microbiol., 2019).

The selected candidate will work under the co-supervision of Dr. Nicolas Cermakian, Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Chronobiology, at the Douglas Research Centre, and Dr. Martin Olivier, Director of the Host-Parasite Interaction Laboratory at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. More information about the laboratory can be found at: http://ncermakianlab.mcgill.ca.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in basic biological sciences (e.g. Immunology, Biochemistry...) at the time of taking up the position, and are expected to have strong background in:
• Immunology and/or Parasitology and/or Chronobiology
• Mouse work
• Molecular/cellular approaches and/or flow cytometry

Additional Information

To apply for a position, the following documents should be sent by email to Dr. Nicolas Cermakian:
• Letter of presentation/motivation

• CV (including list of several reference persons)

Recruitment process is on a rolling basis: the position might be filled before the deadline indicated in this posting.
