We welcome applications from motivated individuals for a postdoctoral position, available immediately in the Pundir Lab at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Guelph. Our laboratory uses custom-designed mouse lines to focus on innate immunity, investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms of host-microbe interactions. The candidate will lead independent projects to study the interaction between bacterial pathogens and mast cells in murine models of skin and meningeal infections. The project builds on the studies Cell Host Microbe 2019 and Nature 2015. Our goal is to guide the fundamental knowledge necessary for developing next-generation therapeutics for infectious and inflammatory diseases.
Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Immunology or related fields
• At least one first- or co-first author, peer-reviewed original research paper from doctoral research
• Substantial technical expertise in:
o Mouse husbandry
o Mammalian cell culture
o Multiparametric flow cytometry
o Fluorescence microscopy
o Immunohistochemistry
• Additional skills that are valued:
o Microbial genetics, Mast cell biology, Molecular Biology
o Highly organized and detail-oriented
o Effective oral and written communication skills
o Experience in mentoring trainees
Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
Duration: Two years, with the possibility of renewal.
