Full-Time Research Technician in the Pundir Lab - University of Guelph

Job Description / Duties

We welcome applications from motivated and organized individuals for a Research Technician. The Pundir Lab uses custom-designed mouse lines to focus on innate immunity, investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms of host-microbe interactions. The applicant will perform experiments to advance key research projects defined by Dr. Pundir. These projects will involve working closely with graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory. The position is full-time (35 hours/week) and available immediately; however, the start date is flexible but preferably no later than June 2024. The position is within Grant & Trust Funded Administrative & Technical (GTAT) Staff Salary Band B.

Typical duties may include some or all of the following:
• Performing experimental procedures under the direction of Dr. Pundir
• Organizing laboratory stock, maintaining inventory, ordering supplies as required
• Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting problems with basic lab equipment
• Enforcing lab safety rules, environmental and biosafety protocols

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications
• A B.Sc. degree or equivalent in Biomedical Science or a related field
• At least one year of previous research experience is preferred.

The applicant must demonstrate technical expertise in:
o Working with mouse models
o Mammalian cell culture
o Knowledge of flow cytometry is an asset
