Job Description / Duties

We are seeking creative and highly motivated individuals to join Dr. Mark Larché’s laboratory in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada.
Successful candidates will work as part of a team (led by Dr. Elena Tonti) aimed at developing and characterizing peptide immunotherapy for immunological diseases.

In particular, through the optimization of a mouse models of cat allergy, the project seeks to improve the understanding of the mechanisms of action of peptide immunotherapy in the context of allergy and the effects of immunotherapy in conjunction with adjuvants or immunomodulators, thus providing new leads and applications for therapeutic intervention.
The project has strong collaboration with industry and will provide the candidate with invaluable experience of working in both private and academic environments.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualified candidates should have:

• M.D., D.V.M. or Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology or molecular biology.
• A strong background in immunology, with emphasis on allergy and immune tolerance, but other areas of expertise will be considered.
• Extensive experience with mouse handling techniques such as injections, dissections, tissue collection and processing (Experience with measurement of airway hyperreactivity by Flexivent is considered a preferential asset).
• Demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry and cellular immunology techniques.
• Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

The appointment is initially for 1 year, with possibility to extend. Salary will be based on qualifications and previous experience. Please do not reply if all the above criteria are not met.
