Position description:

The Institute of Parasitology (IoP) at McGill University (http://www.mcgill.ca/parasitology/) seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Parasite Immunology. The appointee will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent with a demonstrated record of research success in the broad area of immunology of parasitic infections of human or veterinary importance and with potential for excellence in teaching. Applicants with a history of excellent publications, a record of grant success, and research on new or emerging zoonotic protozoan or helminth diseases are especially encouraged to apply. The appointee will develop a strong research program supported by external funds and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching at McGill within the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (http://www.mcgill.ca/macdonald/). Broad research themes at the IoP include analysis of host-parasite interactions from immunological, nutritional, and biochemical perspectives (including vaccine development and development of antigen-based diagnostic assays); drug discovery and development; analysis of the mechanisms of antiparasitic drug resistance; neurobiology and neuropharmacology of helminths; and basic cell and molecular biology of parasites.
