2026 Scientific Meeting - Travel Awards

New Investigator Travel Award: Deadline is Nov. 14/25

CSI offers up to three New Investigator Travel awards for a new Investigator to attend the next CSI Conference. To be eligible for an award, new investigators must be a current CSI member and be within six years of their first faculty appointment. If the researcher took a parental leave during this six-year period, consideration will be provided at double time for the parental leave.  For example, a researcher who took six months for parental leave would benefit from a 12 month extension of their eligibility for CSI New Investigator awards. Awards shall not be given to the same individuals in consecutive years.

CV Criteria (max 2pgs) must include the following details: (cannot include any links, eg., google, pubmed, etc)

  • Current position & address (w/start date)
  • Education Details (w/start & end date)
  • Research Experience
  • Research Funding
  • Honours & Awards
  • Mentorship Activities
  • Other (conference organization, outreach, patents, etc)
  • Invited Talks
  • Peer-reviewed Publications (past 5yrs)

Abstract you or your trainees will be presenting should be your 3rd page. Your CV and abstract must be submitted as one PDF document. Please send to info@csi-sci.ca by the deadline of November 14, 2025.

Documents that do not adhere to the above indicated guidelines, may not be evaluated at the same level. Award decisions are based on merit. Results of the travel award competition will be announced before the early CSI meeting registration deadline.

  • Student Travel Award for the CSI meeting
  • Postdoctoral Travel Award for the CSI meeting

Carefully read the instructions and details required below as there have been some recent changes.

CSI Student, PDF and Investigator Members selected for Travel Awards will be posted by December 19, 2025.

Student Travel Award

Travel awards will be awarded to help graduate students attend the 2026 CSI Meeting and help to cover expenses upon submission of appropriate receipts.

The following conditions apply:

  • A maximum of one travel award will be given per laboratory
  • Did not receive a travel award for the CSI 2025 meeting
  • Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of merit and not on the perceived financial need of the applicant
  • Ensure that you are a member of CSI and have paid your dues for 2026. For more senior students there will be an expectation of ongoing membership for at least two consecutive years
  • For students at Canadian Institutions to be eligible for an award, their supervisor must also have been a member of the CSI for at least 2025 and 2026. Students training outside Canada may apply independently of the CSI membership for their supervisor.

Your online application will require the following updated details: (read carefully to ensure ALL criteria is included)

  • completed online application form
  • Provide a CV (max 2pgs) with the following: (cannot include any links, eg., google, pubmed, etc):
    • publications
    • honours & awards
    • other activities
  • Abstract - format as follows (see sample): (must include details as per sample):
    • Content within 300 words excluding title, names & affiliations
    • indicate if your supervisor has held a CSI membership for 2025 & 2026
    • Times or Times New Roman, 12pt, 2cm margins
  • Upload 2-page CV and abstract as one PDF file (eg 3pgs max) with online application and the PDF filename MUST be your LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME.pdf
  • Documents that do not adhere to the above indicated guidelines, may not be evaluated at the same level

Please note that the travel award deadline is before the abstract submission deadline. You will need to submit your FINAL abstract again when you register for the conference. Your abstract for the meeting may be revised to accommodate new data etc. Note the deadline to register for the conference and submit your final abstract is February 19, 2026 through the conference online registration. Applicants must present a poster at the meeting in order to qualify for travel award funding.

PDF Travel Award:
