We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time postdoctoral fellow to investigate the structural and molecular mechanisms by which viral glycoproteins modulate the immune system. Our goal is to discover new viral strategies that regulate cellular processes and drive pathogenesis, ultimately advancing fundamental insights into host-virus interactions. Our multidisciplinary research combines cutting-edge approaches in virology, immunology, biochemistry, proteomics and structural biology.
Candidates competitive for the position are expected to have:
- a recent PhD in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry or related discipline
- a strong peer-reviewed publication record
- experience in flow cytometry and immunology
- experience in performing viral infection studies (cell culture-based and animal model), and viral replication assays
- expertise in protein biochemistry, biophysics, and/or structural biology (structure/function studies) are considered assets
- self-motivation, curiosity, strong work ethics and dedication
Overall, the lab is exceptionally well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities supporting virology, immunology, structural biology and biochemistry. Within the Lee Lab, we have a fully equipped BSL2+ laboratory for virus studies, dedicated cell culture room, and a comprehensive suite of biochemical, biophysical and structural biology instrumentation. The building also houses a state-of-the-art flow cytometry facility, a new BSL3 high containment facility, and advanced microscopy facilities, including electron and confocal microscopy. In addition, University of Toronto-affiliated hospital institutes provide access to core facilities for proteomic, biostatistics, and genomic sequencing.
The lab is located directly in downtown Toronto on the main St. George campus at the University of Toronto within the Medical Sciences Building. The laboratory is in the heart of the Toronto Discovery District and close proximity to the University of Toronto-affiliated research hospital institutes.
