Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, College of Medicine, with an anticipated starting date of July 1, 2018. Candidates from all areas of Immunology are invited to apply. Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD, and /or a comparable degree from a recognized university as minimum academic credentials, a record of excellence in research, and promise of excellence in teaching. The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to teaching in graduate and undergraduate health sciences and medicine programs.

Additional Information

The assistant professor salary range is $93,293 - $112,109, and includes a comprehensive benefits package comprising a pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefit, dental plan, extended health and vision care plan, employee assistance program and flexible health and wellness spending program.

Employer Profile

The Department: The successful applicant will join our multidisciplinary academic department comprising 13 core faculty. The department has active graduate programs at the Masters and Doctoral levels, and oversees an undergraduate degree program in Microbiology and Immunology. We are located in the Academic Health Sciences Building, a collaborative research environment that includes both basic and clinical departments. We also have strong partnerships with other on-campus units including the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre; the College of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Public Health, and the Canadian Light Source - Synchrotron. These relationships offer opportunities for collaboration and joint mentoring of students. It should be noted that as of July 1, 2018, our department will merge with the Department of Biochemistry thereby offering even greater opportunity for collegial interaction and collaboration.
