CSI Student Internship in Immunology (CSI-SII) Award - Application Deadline March 16/12
Goal:
To attract talented students to immunology research, the Canadian Society for Immunology (CSI) will provide matching funds to enable
undergraduate or recently graduated students to carry out summer research projects in immunology labs within Canada. This year's competition will support up to 5 awards.
Eligibility requirements and guidelines:
- The student must have completed either 3 or 4 academic years
(or at least 2 academic years in addition to CEGEP). Students
who have completed their undergraduate degree within the last 6 months,
and who are not currently enrolled in a graduate program, are also
eligible. In special cases, more junior undergraduate
students will be considered for the award provided that they have
exceptional qualifications, in particular previous research
experience.
- The research
supervisor must be a faculty member at a Canadian university or a
research
group leader at a Canadian research institute.
Research supervisor sponsoring a student must hold a CSI
membership for the current year as well as have been CSI members in the
two previous years. An exception to the requirement of past year’s CSI
membership is made for recently appointed faculty members (< 3
years since first appointment).
Note:
A research supervisor can only be awarded one CSI undergraduate
research award every 3 years and can only submit one application per
year.
- The CSI will pay up to 50% of the student’s total stipend,
to a maximum of $2,400.
- Completed applications should be e-mailed to info@csi-sci.ca
by March 16. Please include “CSI-SII award” in the subject
heading. A copy of the student’s most recent transcript must also be
included with the e-mail submission.
- Successful student applicants and their research supervisors
will be notified by April 16.
- At the completion of the summer research project, the
student will submit to the CSI (by September 15) a 1-page progress
report describing their research accomplishments and what they have
gained from their experience.
